Text messages, in one sentence: we never sell your mobile number, your text-message opt-in or your consent, and we never share them with any third party, except the companies that deliver the texts for us (see section 4).
1. Who we are
This policy is published by Castaic Truck Stop (“we”, “us”), 31611 Castaic Rd, Castaic, CA 91384. It covers this website and our dispatch system: the Fuel Delivery app used by our office staff and by the drivers who haul our fuel loads, and the dispatch text messages it sends.

2. Visitors to this website
This website does not ask you for any personal information. It has no sign-up, no contact form and no accounts.
- Visit counter. The homepage counts visits and unique visitors. To tell visitors apart, it uses a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address, and it never shows the raw address.
- Our web host. Like most web hosts, the company that hosts this site may keep standard server logs (such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) to run and protect the site. That includes any link in our dispatch texts that passes through this website on its way to our driver website.
- Content from other companies. This website’s pages load their fonts from Google Fonts. The homepage also shows a map from Google Maps and loads some photos from the Internet Archive (web.archive.org). When your browser fetches them, those companies receive your IP address and browser information and may use cookies, under their own privacy policies. We receive nothing from them about you.
- No advertising or outside analytics. We do not use advertising networks or outside analytics services on this site. The visit counter above is our own.
- Do Not Track. We do not track visitors across other websites. This site does not offer a separate choice for browsers that send a Do Not Track signal. We cannot control what the other companies named above do with requests your browser sends to them.
3. Our dispatch system
Only the drivers who haul our fuel loads and the office staff who dispatch them use the Fuel Delivery app. We keep the following information about them.
Your account
- Your name, your username and your role (driver, office or administrator).
- Your password, stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form that cannot be turned back into the password.
- An email address, if you give one, used only to send you a password-reset link when you ask for one.
Your driver record (drivers)
- Your mobile phone number.
- Your driver’s license number, if the office enters it, the truck you usually drive, and notes the office adds.
Text messages
- Whether you agreed to receive dispatch texts, and records of that agreement and of any request to stop, such as when texts were switched on or off for you and who recorded it.
- Outside the app, the office keeps the consent form you signed and a record of the START text you sent, as proof of your agreement.
- Whether your number replied STOP, and when that became known.
- A log of every dispatch text: the date and time, the number it went to, the full words of the message, whether it was delivered, and the message reference given by our texting provider.
- Texts you send to our texting number, such as START, STOP, HELP or a message in your own words: the number it came from, the time and the words. They reach us through our texting provider, whose message log the office reads, and the app may also keep a copy so that the office can act on them.
If you are office staff who receive texts
- Your mobile number is kept in the app’s text settings, in the text-message records described above and in the change log, not in a driver record. Only office staff and administrators can see it.
- The consent form you signed and the record of your START text, both kept by the office, are the proof of your agreement.
Your work in the app
- The loads offered to you, whether you accepted or declined each one, and any reason you gave.
- The pickup and delivery details you or the office enter, such as times, places, gallons and ticket numbers.
- Location, only if you allow it. When you record a pickup or a delivery on the driver website, the page asks your phone for its location. If you allow it, the location is saved with that load. If you refuse, nothing is saved and the pickup or delivery is still recorded. You can change this permission at any time in your phone’s browser settings.
Sign-ins and changes
- A record of each sign-in and each failed sign-in attempt: the username, the time and, when it can be known, the network address it came from.
- A sign-in cookie on your phone, which keeps you signed in to the driver website. It is not used for anything else.
- Password-reset requests: the email address and the time.
- A change log showing who changed what in the app, and when.
4. Text messages
Our dispatch texts go only to the drivers and office staff who have agreed to receive them. The full program terms, including what we send, how often, and how to stop, are in our SMS Terms.
Your mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.
We do not sell, rent or share your mobile number, your text-message opt-in or your consent with any third party, for marketing or for any other purpose. The only exception is the companies that deliver the texts for us: our text-messaging platform (Telnyx) and the mobile phone carriers. They receive your number and the words of each message only so that the message can be delivered. Like every promise in this policy, this one is limited only by the law (section 6).
The only texts we send to your mobile number from our texting number are the ones described in our SMS Terms. We never use your mobile number for marketing. Office staff can also see a driver’s mobile number in his driver record and may use it to contact him about his work. Your text consent covers text messages only, not calls or emails.
Within our dispatch system, texts carry work details: a driver’s text can name the office user who issued the load, and office staff who receive answer texts see the driver’s name, the load, and any reason given for declining it.
5. How we use information
- To offer loads to drivers, receive their answers, and tell the office.
- To let the office contact a driver about his work.
- To record fuel pickups and deliveries and keep the business records that go with them.
- To run and secure the app: signing you in, resetting passwords, and spotting sign-in attempts that are not yours.
- To show that you agreed to texts, to read what you text to our number, and to honor a request to stop them.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
6. Who else receives information
These are the companies and bodies that receive it:
- Telnyx and the mobile carriers, to deliver dispatch texts and to bring us the texts you send to our number (see section 4).
- Our email provider, which carries a password-reset email to the address you gave, when you ask for one.
- Tailscale, which provides the secure internet address the driver website is reached through. The connection is encrypted, and the encryption ends on our own server.
- Our web host, which runs this website and may log the requests made to it (section 2).
- Google and the Internet Archive, whose fonts, map and photos this website loads, when your browser fetches them (section 2).
- Companies whose tools we use to build and look after the app, such as an AI assistant that helps us write, test and check its software. Such a tool can see app records while it does that work for us, but never the mobile numbers of the people who get our texts, their text-message opt-in or consent records, or the texts they send to our number.
All the above categories exclude text messaging originator optin data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. The companies that deliver our texts (the first item) receive only what they need to deliver each message, as section 4 says.
The law. Like any business, we must obey a court order or other legal requirement to hand over information, even information that this policy, our SMS Terms or the sign-up form say we will not share.
7. How we protect it
- The Fuel Delivery app runs on a server we operate ourselves, not on a shared public service. Backups are kept on storage we control.
- The links in our texts open the driver website over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
- Drivers who sign in can see the names of the other current drivers. Among the people who sign in to the app, mobile numbers, license numbers, notes, the truck each driver usually drives, and text-message consent are visible only to office staff and administrators, each with their own sign-in. The mobile numbers of office staff who receive texts are visible only to office staff and administrators. A driver sees only his own loads.
- Passwords are stored hashed. Failed sign-ins are limited and recorded. The keys to our texting account are kept on the server and in our own private backups, and are never shown in the app.
No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
8. How long we keep it
Load records and the text-message records are business records. The app does not delete them automatically.
The change log is different. It also holds the sign-in records and the entries showing who switched texts on or off for someone. A nightly job on our server deletes each change-log entry automatically once it is more than three years old. Copies in our backups can last a while longer.
When someone leaves, we switch off their sign-in at once. Their past loads keep their name, as a record of who did the work. You can ask us at any time to remove your mobile number from your driver record (or, for office staff, from the text settings); texts to it stop immediately. The record of texts already sent keeps the number, and so do the records of texts you sent to us, of any STOP and of your agreement; the change log can also hold it, for up to three years, and copies in our backups can last a while longer.
9. Your choices
- Stop texts: reply STOP to any of our texts, or tell us any other way. See the SMS Terms.
- See or correct your information: ask Sam (contact details in section 1). For drivers, the office can correct your name, mobile number and email in the app. For office staff, an administrator corrects your details, including the mobile number in the text settings.
- Location: allow or refuse it on your phone. Refusing never stops you recording a pickup or delivery.
- Questions or complaints: contact Sam. We will answer as soon as we can.
10. Children
This website is for a general audience and is not directed at children. Our dispatch system and its texts are for adults only: the drivers and office staff who work with us.
11. California residents
You may have additional rights under California law. To ask about them, or to make a request, contact Sam using the details in section 1.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page with a new date at the top. If a change affects our dispatch texts, we will also tell the people who receive them directly.
